William Ferrer kicks Annette15 out of the Main Event 3

Saturday October 17th, 2009 at 5:17 pm

Our Chilipoker French qualified player, who had a nice Day 1, finishing with a stack of over 60K, just had the honour to send the WSOPE 07 winner Annette Obrestad back home.

Annette pushed her 30k chips allin preflop after a reraise of William, small blind, and pockets kings in his hand. William, whose stack just covered Annette’s, quickly called to see her show pockets nines. No help on the board, Annette is out, and William is now back in business with over 65k!

Main Event or Turbo Event? 0

Saturday October 17th, 2009 at 5:12 pm

We have reached the end of the first level with over 25 players out. Due to a lot of short stacks it looks like we will know the 27 final players before the first lights of tomorrow.

Blinds are now 800/1600 with ante 200. Average stack 66,000 and 124 players left. I bet we come down to 100 by the break.

Day2 Main Event NLH – Gerardx Doubles up through Liz Lieu 0

Saturday October 17th, 2009 at 4:46 pm

SANY0170

I met Gerardx right before players were asked to take their seats. He said he had half of the average stack and didnt look pretty good. I said :”Never judge somebody by the appearence of his chips and better to have half the average now and not tomorrow :-)

After not even 20 minutes from the start of this level, I found him sitting right next to our LIz, at the same table.

Funny thing is he doubled up through her :-(

Pre flop Liz raised to 3,600 and after seeing his cards, Gerard went all in in less than 30 seconds. Liz had no choice but calling the remaining amount 18,700 with her .

Gerard showed his aiming for a flush or a straight. And he got them both :-) as the board showed everything he needed

With this flush He is up to 40,000, while Liz is 10k shorter than him.

Congrats to Gerard and come on Liz!, Next hand it will be you!

7small_MG_1756_sjpg_176_132_1_70_1_50_50

We are an hour away from the beginning of day2 of the Main Event. Yesterday during the last minutes of the last level, there was a lot of aggressive action, reflecting the big number of short stacks around the  tables.

The tournament ended with 151 players who actually made it to day2.

Among them there are still 8 chilli players, coming from the Club Promotion or qualified through the online tournaments.7small_MG_1719_sjpg_176_132_1_70_1_50_50

Balazs Botond from Hungary with 75,000,  William Ferrer from France with 62,400, Fromont Sebastien from France with 51,700, Pawel Chmiel from Poland with 35,400, Gosch Guenael from France with 35,200, Meyer Julien and Astic Remy, both from France with less than 20,000 chips.

Our ambassador Liz is still in the run among the players who have their stack more or less equal to the average one with 45,600 chips.

Not to forget also Gerardx who, with a series of unfortunate hands, has seen his stack go down to 25,000 but has the whole day to prove everyone wrong.7small_MG_1768_sjpg_176_132_1_70_1_50_50

Among the pros and known faces, we can see Winamax players (such as Guillaume De La Gorce who is now the chip leader, Clemencon Tristan, Lacay Ludovic), Full Tilt Pro Scott Montgomery, Annette Obrenstad from Betfair,  Fabrice Soulier and Tony G. In 39th position with 71,000 we have one of the 9th November players, Antoine Saout...will he play the WSOP final table with another Victory in his pocket?

Here a chipcount recap, showing the top 20 positions:7small_MG_1711_sjpg_176_132_1_70_1_50_50

Saturday October 17th, 2009 at 3:44 am

Yes, also the winner of the High Roller Event, Ross Boatman is out.

He doesnt regret it as much as the others as last Wednesday he has won a very big consolation prize :-)

He was short stack and went All In with 9,000 from the small blind without event looking at his cards.

He found Nicolas Levi ready to call him with his .

He took his cards and faced them up: [

The board just confirmed that you have to look at your cards before betting!

Half way through – Level 9 0

Saturday October 17th, 2009 at 3:11 am

Blinds 400/800, ante 100. Average stack 41,600 and 200 players left. I would say this tournament is fairly quick. We have two levels more before the end of Day 1 and we have already said goodbye to 216 players.4small_MG_1362_sjpg_176_132_1_70_1_50_50

Neverthless, a lot of big names have gone to enjoy the night life of Marrakech since there was nothing else to do for them in the tournament room. Will this one be the non famous revenge?

Roger Hairabedian, Sorel Mizzi, Antonio Esfandiari will certainly not be here tomorrow for Day 2 and maybe some others will join them as I can see a lot of troubled faces and short stacks.

Not that troubled appears our Diva Liz Lieu, playing at the same table of Fabrice Soulier, who has now a pretty big stack.

Gerardx

Gerardx

Claro que si. It just occured to me that I didnt speak at all about Gerardx.

He is one of our online players from Spain. He plays with Chilipoker almost every day. It was a pleasure for me to meet him for the first time here in Marrakech. He is very passionate about poker and has a site of his own: www.gerardx.com

Coming back to the table, I went to him quite a few times to have a chipcount: he has been up and down since the beginning, due to cards that couldnt be played ;-(
Everytime I was there I could see him stealing blinds but that was all, no action, no flop to be seen.

Untill two minutes ago! I simply said come on! give me a nice hand! and this time was the right one.SANY0165

All action pre flop: Gerardx simply went all in and I saw an immediate call on his left.
No wonder…he showed against in Gerard hands.

First two cards on the flop….

Guess what the third one was?, yes another :-)

Geradx doubled up and I was very satisfied when a player said: “next time please come to me and ask the very same thing!”
