After 4 days of intense poker at the Montesino Casino in Vienna, Austria, for the second last leg of this season’s Chilipoker Deepstack Open, Austrian Player Manfred Spahn won it all after beating runner-up Thomas Panek on a field of 507 players.
For its second edition, the DSO Vienna broke last year’s record of participation, with over 500 players from across Europe taking part into the main event. Over the four days of tournament between the 3rd and 6th of November, the Autrian capital became home to a large number of German, Hungarian, French, Swiss, Italian, Romanian, and Polish players. The main event, but also the two side events and the cash games have been full during the whole time, creating an amazing atmosphere at the tables but also around them.
Among the field of players, Croatian pro player Dragan Galic made us the honor to take part in the main event, along with international tournament director Thomas Kremser.
With a starting stack of 50,000 chips and a 550€ buy in, players waited eagerly until 8pm on Saturday evening to finally witness 76 of them finishing in the money.
Finally, around 1am on Monday morning after a one hour heads up between two local players, it was time to call it a night.
Thanks to the special Chilipoker promotions that reward the online players, three DSO VIP players who finished just before the money (77th, 85th, and 95th) still managed to take home €680, equivalent of the bubble money. Six more DSO VIP players won laptops, ipads, and bose headsets. If you too want to become a DSO VIP player, find more online on our website. It is easy to achieve, and can bring you a lot more during a tournament.
On the Sunday, German player Karsten Philipp and Serbian player Zoran Mariukovil won the €300 and €200 side events.
The next and last stage of the Chilipoker deepstack Open 2011 will be held in Marrakech from the 16th-18th December at the Casino de Marrakech. Online qualifications are available on www.chilipoker.com every Monday from the 21st of November and every Tuesday night, starting from 10€.
