Ross Boatman Winner of The WPT NL High Roller Event!!!! 0

Wednesday October 14th, 2009 at 7:20 pm

2small_MG_0422When we saw the heads-up kicked off we all thought it was going to take a while or…forever!

Both players had more or less the same stack and it was supposed to take time untill of of them had to make the final move. Instead it only took Ross 2 hands to win.

The final hand was just a question of luck: both players went all in with 2-2 (Dominik) and K-J (Ross). Ross made a higher pair could raise his hands into the air!

His 1st place was paid with around  € 150, 000 and Dominik got more or less € 90,000 with his 2nd place.

Very nice job guys!!!

High Roller Event: Down to Heads UP! 0

Wednesday October 14th, 2009 at 7:00 pm

2small_MG_0550Unfortunately Bichon  had not really a lot of time to celebrate his victory against Boatman.

He raised pre flop with AD-9D suited and got called by Dominik and Ross. Flop comes AH-4D-4H and Dominik makes a bet of 17k, called by Ross but raised ALL In by Bichon who had paired his Aces. This time only Ross calls. The turn and river showed  Q -J of hearts. Bichon had to let his Aces go aginst a Flush.

The Heads Up can now start, with the best two players of this event: Ross Bpatman and Dominik Nitsche.

Bichon takes homearound 62,000 €.

Nitsche heads-up vs Boatman

Nitsche heads-up vs Boatman

It is a very quick final table. I just came back with an Heads -Up News. Yes, true, only 2 players remaining.

The 5th place went to Serge Kamerer.

Dominik Nitsche  had another nice run over him when they both went All In with QJ and AQ and Dominik paired his Ace while Serge left the table with more or less 30,000 € in his pocket.

The 4th place was a battled one between Thomas Bichon and Barney Boatman.

Barney had to go ALL IN at the button being short stack with more or less 90,000 chips. It was not that difficult for Thomas to call. Understandable when he showed his 5-5 against 7-10 in Boatman’s hands. The flop came 8-6-4 and Bichon was still ahead but the river first and then the turn after made his face turn upside down when he saw 10 and then 7. Barney made two pair but he made a straight :)

Barney now leaves his brother playing alone and he will wait him home with a nice 45,000 € to celebrate….maybe his brother’s victory??

The Tables Turn at The High Roller Event 0

Antony Lellouche between the Boatman Brothers

Antony Lellouche between the Boatman Brothers

So the tables turn, two action hands have really changed the dynamics of the High Roller Final Table in Marrakech. The first hand was between Nagib Bennis and Tiago Nishima,  a classic AA vs KK hand whereby Tiago found himself at the bottom end of the hand with his pair of Kings. Tiago busts out in 9th place.

Next hand is also huge. Thomas Bichon is at the table with a huge stack raised and gets called by Ross Boatman of the Hendon Mob. Flop comes down K92, Thomas Bichon over bets and gets put all in by Ross Boatman who shows a pair of 99. Thomas Bichon is very disappointed and throws his 22 on the table without improving his hand.

Boatman is now chip leader at the final table of the High Roller Event.

Ludovic Lacay

Ludovic Lacay

We are down to 27 players. Very soon with the change of level the short stack guys will be coming out and make this tournament even more exciting.

Here is a chipcount of the most popular players still in:

Barny Boatman : 110,000
Liz Lieu: 63,500
Antony Lellouche 55,000
Alain Roy: 47,000
Ludovic Lacay: 35,000
Nicolas Levi: 35,000
Davidi Kitai: 20,000
Roger Hairabedian: 16,000

NEWS UPDATE:
Roger Hairabedian amost doubled up while I was coming back to write this blog. He made a considerable bet on the flop and was suddenly raised by Ludovic Lacay. He put him almost all in. Roger had no choice and called leaving just few chips in front of him. When the dealer asked to show cards, Ludovic simply said: “You won Roger” and mucked his hand. At this point he was proud to show everyone he sensed the bluff and showed his Ace, paired on the turn :-)

Diva Playing the High Roller

The Day 2 of the High Roller event is about to begin, 33 players over 45 are left.
The field is very impresive, even if the event was planned quite early during the week (Monday) … and late during the day (22h). The reasons of such a schedule are multiple : have some big local players and launch the week of event with an important tournament.

Big names of european and international poker already arrived : Ross and Barny Boatman, Partouche team, Scott Montgomery,  Winamax team, the online phenomen Tim Kahlmeyer, Casey Kastle… Other poker pros like Tony G and Annette Oberstadt already arrived but decided to have some rest and enjoying the city and the sun before the event.

Organizing such an event in Morocco is a real challenge, as gambling here is not really well appreciated, but the conditions for the international players are just amazing : free hotels, tremendous buffets, bilingual croupiers and, obviously, the local players who (for most of them) have their own way of playing poker !!!

through some articles, I’ll try to describe the poker life here, on and around the tables

You’ll find all the videos of the events on Madeinpoker.com , and live coverage on Chilipoker.com/wpt-marrakech/
