Day2 Main Event NLH – Gerardx Doubles up through Liz Lieu 0

Saturday October 17th, 2009 at 4:46 pm

SANY0170

I met Gerardx right before players were asked to take their seats. He said he had half of the average stack and didnt look pretty good. I said :”Never judge somebody by the appearence of his chips and better to have half the average now and not tomorrow :-)

After not even 20 minutes from the start of this level, I found him sitting right next to our LIz, at the same table.

Funny thing is he doubled up through her :-(

Pre flop Liz raised to 3,600 and after seeing his cards, Gerard went all in in less than 30 seconds. Liz had no choice but calling the remaining amount 18,700 with her .

Gerard showed his aiming for a flush or a straight. And he got them both :-) as the board showed everything he needed

With this flush He is up to 40,000, while Liz is 10k shorter than him.

Congrats to Gerard and come on Liz!, Next hand it will be you!

Meet the Poker Diva 0

Thursday October 15th, 2009 at 8:38 pm

While in Marrakesh I was lucky enough to spend some time with the Liz, Chilipoker’s Poker Diva.

Nicknamed the Poker Diva by fellow poker players because of her flair for style, Liz has developed quite a unique image at the tables. Her petite frame and fashionable appearance may be deceiving because when the cards are dealt, her aggressive style, serious demeanor, and killer instincts take over.

She is a competitor at heart, and she will just as easily take your chips as share a laugh with you when the game is over. Liz is mainly a cash game player, but just as easily enjoys the tournament circuit.

Liz like myself is an avid twitter user, who loves to stay connected and also blog!!! @Liz Lieu

I watched Liz do two interviews this week, and really enjoyed watching her in front of the camera.  One  interview was with our friends from Spain, the crew at PokerNet.es that interview was lot of fun, both Liz and Gerard X really enjoyed doing the interview. Gerard X is a fun character but is a little camera shy. The other was with they guys from Poker Texano. Liz is professional, fun and a pleasure to be around. No wonder everyone wants a autograph, picture or interview.

For all you fans I am posting a gallery of Liz Lieu Photos. Enjoy!

More Popular Poker Faces the Side Event in Marrakech 3

Wednesday October 14th, 2009 at 6:21 pm

1small_MG_0208.sjpg_500_300_0_70_1_0_0.sjpgI had a quick walk around the tables of the €1800 Side Event and looked around for some familiar faces. Liz Lieu (Poker Diva) and Annette Obrestad (Annette_15) don’t seem to be doing very well.

Roger Hairabedian otherwise know as the Terminator is currently ranked as one of the top players in France at the moment. Unfortunately for him he ended on the bubble at the High Roller event and is now seated at the €1800 Side Event.

Danilo Colombia from Italy is seated at the same table as French superstar Fabrice Soulier, other well know faces include Chilipoker Team Players Gerardx and Rozyo from Spain.

Good luck all, as we hope to see some of our pro’s at the final table.

Pro-AM Event

Pro-AM Event

The good thing about working in Poker? It is enjoy your passion and to be paid to do that. This afternoon it was especially great.

Indeed, it was the pro invitational tournament this afternoon with a lot of qualifiers of Chilipoker that won their trip through a serie of freerolls. In addition of these 24 players, Liz Lieu, TonyG, Alex Dreyfus and myself.
It was one of this tournament were everybody is relax and you can really enjoy the game with a lot of smiles, laugh and nice trash talking.
For our players it was obviously a great pleasure to play with our embassador Liz Lieu. And cherry on the cake, you could win $150 on your chilipoker account on each of the chilipoker staff and the pro.
I played for a few levels and when the blinds went too high lost bravely against AA with a beautiful hand … 45.

Now it is time to let the real pro play with the beginning of the High Roller. 36 players, 9,000€ of buy-in, a lot of professionals… As usual go go go Liz Lieu!

I got a Feeling…. 0

Monday October 12th, 2009 at 4:17 pm

…That tonight’s gonna be a good night, that tonight’s gonna be a good good night!

I am sitting here in the Chilipoker Lounge togheter with my colleagues and I listen to Severin singing this song.
He is very excited and so are we. In less than one hour we will have the opportunity to see some lucky guy (or girl :-) ) fighting for success. The PRO-AM NHL Freezout is about to start. Who shall I support? I cannot make my mind!

Liz Lieu will be there togheter with Tony G, Annette Oberstadt and my boss, Alexandre Dreyfus….hard choice.
I will say Alexandre is already a winner: The first WPT in Marrakech is big news. Everybody is having fun and it is fantastic walking through a hall full of smiling people. We are really having a good time.

I just cannot wait for the 4 most popular words to be said: SHUFFLE UP AND DEAL!!
